Wear the Lipstick

Do you ever feel self-conscious about wearing something outside of your comfort zone? One of my goals for this year is to “get comfortable being uncomfortable”. I know that is not a typical S.M.A.R.T goal because it’s not really measurable, but it is a reminder to myself that growth only happens outside of your comfort zone. And to achieve my word “build” I set for 2022, I am pushing myself to do just that. Get out of my comfort zone. Do things I normally wouldn’t do. And even if it scares the bejesus out of me – I’ll do it scared. Because that’s the only way I will learn, develop, and grow!

Something so simple that has inspired me to move outside of my comfort zone, is this “Wear the Lipstick” campaign I have been seeing more of on Instagram. It encourages women to wear lipstick, no matter what they’re doing. It seems to be such a confidence builder and makes your entire face glow.

So, every single day, I put lipstick or lip gloss on. No matter what I’m doing – working from home, doing house chores, or helping on the farm, I put my favorite shade on and it just instantly boosts my self confidence. I’m sure when I show up to the farm with a full face of makeup on, including lipstick, Jacob probably wonders, “What in the world are you doing?” Haha! But just because I farm, doesn’t mean I can’t also be a lady. 😉

I discovered my absolute favorite lip shade during my bridal makeup trial preparing for our wedding. I bought my own tube of it to have for touch ups on our wedding day (tip for brides!) and it has been my go-to shade every day. I love this product because you can wear it matte, or just add a clear gloss on top for a beautiful shine!

Red Aspen, the company I’m a Brand Ambassador for also recently released five new shades of lip gloss as well as a clear gloss. The clear gloss has pretty much replaced chapstick for me and I have a couple different shades that I rotate between my makeup bag, purse, and car. Can never go wrong with multiple options! 😉

So, needless to say, if wearing a certain something – clothing, makeup, jewelry, shoes, etc. makes you happy and brings you joy, WEAR IT. I have realized that life is way too dang short to worry about what people may think of the shade of lipstick you’re wearing. Be confident and be YOU. You deserve it.

Wear the lipstick.

Cheers to the weekend, friends!

Rooted in ag and led by faith,

Ellyn
